Edinburgh, Scotland Day #1

Last Thursday we headed out on our first European vacation to Edinburgh, Scotland.  We flew out bright and early Thursday morning and returned late Saturday night.  We had such a great time!  Tyson was a little trooper and such a great traveler.  Below are some pictures from our trip!

Here we are eating lunch shortly after we arrived in Scotland.  They brought Tyson a kids menu with stickers and crayons lol.  I thought that was great, as did he. :)

Our first stop was the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen's official residence in Scotland.  Connected to it are the remains of the Holyrood Abbey, built in 1128 by King David I of Scotland.

Here we are in front of the palace.

We passed this neat cathedral on our way to our next stop.

Our second stop of the day was the Edinburgh Castle.  It sits high up on a hill overlooking the valley.  We learned the hill has been occupied by people since the second century AD!

There was a great view!

We went into the cafe and got some hot chocolate because it was freezing!

That night we stayed in a wonderful two-bedroom hotel.  I came across this hotel just days before our trip and liked the idea of having two bedrooms, since Tyson goes to bed early.  I wondered if it would be dumpy since we got such a good price, but the hotel ended up being absolutely lovely.  We're hoping to find two-bedroom hotels for all our travels.  It just works so much better with a baby!
